Airedales are believed to be a cross between the now extinct Black & Tan Terrier and the Otterhound, bred to outfight, outhunt and out-think any other dog. Albert Payson Terhune sums up the Airedale as "swift, formidable, graceful, big of brain and an ideal chum and guard dog."
The Airedale is the largest member of the Terrier family and is often referred to as the "King Of Terriers." |
He is cocky and strong willed, very courageous and oblivious to pain. |
He is truly a loyal companion devoted to his family. |
He is very patient with children and loves to play. |
He is a genetically hearty dog with few physical problems. |
He will always be enthusiastic and at your side in
whatever you do. |
In the 1920's the Airedale was one of the most popular breeds in the U.S.A. even the president, Warren Harding, owned an Airedale named Laddie Boy. |
